THE BEGINNING
Reece was destined for equine success, in fact he was born into it, given the first horse he patted was Doriemus and his first sit on a thoroughbred was aboard Schillaci.
From that moment, Reece has surrounded himself with quality horsemen working for well respected trainers in Brett Cavanough and Group 1 winning trainer Mick Kent. In 2018 Reece was selected to work with Hall of Fame trainer Lee Freedman as an integral part of his Singapore operation where he was crowned premiership trainer for that season and prepared Mr Clint to success in the Singapore Guineas.
Reece returned to Australia and fulfilled the role of foreman for his father Barry Goodwin at Mangalore Park where they enjoyed considerable success.
A premiership winning jockey on Victoria’s picnic circuit, Reece rode over 125 winners and held a strike-rate of close to 25%. Reece now integrates these skills in the saddle into his training routine, riding his own trackwork to give him the edge.
THE FUTURE
Reece is excited for his next chapter and established Reece Goodwin Racing at the start of 2022 after being granted his trainer’s licence by Racing Victoria.
Based at the new world-class Pakenham racecourse, Reece believes the facilities and the one-on-one attention being provided to every horse will enable young and tried horses to thrive in his boutique stable.

Reece trained his first winner in April 2022 and his first metropolitan winner at Sandown on a Saturday program in December that same year. It was his 14th victory in his first eight months of training.
