McEvoy Mitchell Racing was formed in 2011, with the father and son team combining their skills and experience in 2019.
Calvin McEvoy .
Calvin has spent many years at the coalface of the industry, working hands on with racehorses in Australia as well as completing an educational stint in a training yard in Newmarket, the historic home of horseracing in the UK. Calvin quickly took up responsibility upon return, overseeing the development of our purpose-built training centre at Ballarat. His goal is to make the benefit of having horses trained at the central and purpose-built facility at Ballarat go even further for our owners. Calvin aims to build the average in earnings per start.
Tony McEvoy .
As an apprentice jockey Tony rode more than 100 winners over a short period of time before his weight got away from him. Coming from a riding background has really helped Tony hone his skills as a trainer and continues to attribute to his ability to find quality horses. Tony has produced some outstanding champions throughout his career, including Sunlight – Coolmore, Newmarket and William Reid winner (Sunlight sold for a record $4.2 Million as a broodmare); Fields of Omagh – Dual Cox Plate winner; Hey Doc – Four times Group 1 winner; Xtravagant Star – Inglis Millennium; Despatch – Group 1 Goodwood.
