Horse Overview

Overview…

An Inglis Ready 2 Run graduate who announced himself with a sizzling 10.45s breeze-up.

By WOODED – international GROUP 1 WINNER, a son of WOOTTON BASSETT out of a three-time winning mare by SHARMARDAL.

Sharmardal daughters are producing elite performers including – PRIVATE EYE, CEOLWULF, IMPERATRIZ and COVERGE to name a few

SIRE: WOODED..

Wooded is by Wootton Bassett, one of the most important modern European sire lines.

He won the Group 1 Prix de l’Abbaye over 1,000 meters and the Group 3 Prix Texanita over 1,200 meters. Wooded also placed in other Group races, showing his worth on the racetrack.

Race record … 9 starts for 3 x first, 3 x seconds and one third.

From his first crop, he produced Woodshauna, winner of the Group 1 Prix Jean Prat over 1,400 meters and the Group 3 Prix Texanita, the same race Wooded himself won.

Wooded brings speed, acceleration, athleticism and European quality.

The family has some serious class, with Wooded a full brother to Group 1 winner Bucanero Fuerte.

DAM: GULLIBLE..

Gullible is by Shamardal out of I Believe, by Octagonal.

She was not just a broodmare bred on pedigree. She was a genuine racehorse herself, recording three wins, two seconds and three thirds from 13 starts.

There is plenty of proven Australian sprinting and middle-distance ability in the dam line, including Rain Affair ($1,555,300), Ranges ($677,535) and Australian Champion Three-Year-Old Colt Riff Rocket ($3,518,625).

PEDIGREE ANALYSIS..

This is where it gets interesting.

The cross is essentially Wootton Bassett / Elusive City over Shamardal / Octagonal.

That is a very international top-half combination with an extraordinarily strong Australian female foundation.

There are some fascinating genetic elements underneath it. Both Wootton Bassett and Shamardal are associated with quality, speed and athleticism.

Wooded provides the Wootton Bassett / Iffraaj line, while Gullible provides Shamardal / Giant’s Causeway, followed by Octagonal / Zabeel.

The cross brings European speed on top and strength underneath through the Zabeel and Sir Tristram line.

On pedigree, we see our colt targeting 1,000 to 1,200 metres as a young horse, with the possibility of 1,200 to 1,400 metres as he strengthens and matures.
