2024 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale Purchase

Horse Overview

Presenting a smashing colt by Exceed and Excel’s best son to retire to stud, World Champion Sprinter Bivouac. He’s out of the unraced I Am Invincible mare Bim Bam Boom, who herself is a sister to stakes-winners Albany Reunion, Fast Dragon and Palace Rock.

Bred by Rosemont Stud, this colt was passed in at the 2024 Gold Coast Magic Millions Sale after failing to reach his reserve of $200k. We really liked him as a horse at both the farm inspection stage and at the sale however felt he was a touch underdone and going through a bit of a development phase at the sale. We subsequently offered Rosemont $180k for the colt however they declined and suggested they were more than happy to race him rather than take what they perceived to be ‘unders’.

Whilst down at Rosemont’s spelling farm at Ceres inspecting some of our own horses last week, I noticed the colt in a paddock with some of our yearlings. I was instantly taken by him and asked what he was. It had only been four weeks since I saw him last however he was a completely different horse who had strengthened up immeasurably – quite contrary to the normal scenario whereby a yearling gets home from the sales and loses condition, after what’s a pretty busy experience for any young horse. While I wasn’t prepared to pay $200k for him at the sale, I certainly was after seeing him a month later and subsequently did the deal. Rosemont, along with their co-breeder Brendon ‘Baz’ McCullum have elected to keep half the colt to race in partnership with us which is a great outcome.

The colt will soon be ready to head to the breakers and being by a fast stallion like Bivouac, out of an I Am Invincible mare and a strong, running type as he is there’s every chance he’ll be seen at the track as a two year-old.
