HELLBENT really couldn’t have done much more in his career to date. Off a moderate starting service fee he has produced 4 stakes winners and 9 stakes placegetters with his oldest progeny being just 4yos. He currently sits 12th on the General Sires table from only 152 runners and his winners to runners ratio is better than I AM INVINCIBLE, SNITZEL and SO YOU THINK. He has a Group 1 winner, MAGIC TIME, and is the sire of our own BENEDETTA.

As a racehorse, HELLBENT was tough. He was no flash in the pan, winning as a 2yo and racing through to win the Group 1 William Reid Stakes as a 5yo and finishing with 7 wins and 7 placings form his 23 starts. He raced around super sprinters REDZEL, STAR TURN, RUSSIAN REVOLUTION, TIVACI and TERRAVISTA in a generation of outstanding short course horses.

RED HOT CHILLIES was a short course sprinting mare who despite only winning once, placed another 5 times at Eagle Farm, Hawkesbury and Kembla Grange. She was good enough to run at Listed level and finished 4 lengths from DEAR DEMI on unsuitably heavy ground. At stud, she has produced 4 winners from 4 foals to race. All are multiple winners except for the one in Hong Kong who won impressively in January. Although PRIVLAKA is the only stakes placegetter in the top 2 dams, there is a wealth of winners with 10 of the 13 foals out of the top two dams winning and most multiple winners.

The highlight of the pedigree, however, is this cross. We identified the RED RANSOM/ROBERTO cross was incredibly well suited to HELLBENT when we went to the Inglis Premier sale and purchased BENEDETTA. We then saw FULLY LIT win the Inglis Millenium with the same cross. What this colt also has is DANEHILL, who is represented in the pedigrees of MAGIC TIME and KRISTILLI. This means that this colt has two stallions in his female pedigree that are represented in all four of HELLBENT’s Group winners. Every one of them………

A big part of the process is the pedigree but it needs to match the physical inspection. This guy was just a stunner. Every part of him fit the bill. He has great balance and strength and a great, strong shoulder. It matches his strong hind quarter and he gives every indication that he still has more growing to do, despite being a good size already. All of the boxes were ticked by this colt.

This colt is heading to the Mick Price and Michael Kent yard. Mick Price has long been a highly respected trainer in Victoria and since taking on Michael Kent (Jnr) as his partner, they have only built on the record. We have this colt pinned as a sprinter and the stable have the runs on the board with horses through their stable in recent years such as EXTREME CHOICE, JACQUINOT, WHAT YOU NEED and GRAND IMPACT to name just a few.
