Horse Overview

We have identified 3yo gelding, LAVA FLOW as the perfect horse to be ultra competitive in Brisbane, especially under the guidance of champion trainer, TONY GOLLAN.

He was a $250,000 yearling out of a half sister to Gr1 Stradbroke winner, UNDER THE LOUVRE and his buyer, Sir Owen Glenn who is interested in racing stallions (Sir Delius, Russian Revolution, In The Congo, Criterion etc), decided to give someone else the opportunity of racing him. So we struck!

​Only lightly raced he has had just the 3 starts for a 2nd and a 3rd.

Looked very impressive winning 2 trials in July 2026, then started fave on debut at Canterbury but after jumping awkwardly did himself no favours. He then backed that up with a 3rd at Hawkesbury followed by a 2nd at Mudgee.

He has been sent out for a break and will return a fresh and improved version of himself ready for the Tony Gollan polish. Tony is very keen to have him in his stable and we believe he will pay for himself very quickly up in Qld.

​THE SIRE – Too Darn Hot (Dubawi)

Too Darn Hot is one of the hottest young stallions in world racing.

A son of legendary sire Dubawi from triple Group 1 winner Dar Re Mi, he was an unbeaten Champion European 2YO, winning the Gr.1 Dewhurst Stakes, before becoming Europe’s Champion 3YO Miler with victories in the Gr.1 Sussex Stakes and Gr.1 Prix Jean Prat.

​He has made an exceptional start at stud. As of September 2026, Too Darn Hot has produced 36 Stakes winners, 23 Group winners and eight individual Group 1 winners worldwide. His Australian progeny are headed by four time Gr.1 winner and Champion 2YO Broadsiding and Gr.1 Oakleigh Plate winner Tropicus.

His commercial appeal has also exploded. Too Darn Hot yearlings sold in Australia in 2026 averaged $356,688, with a top price of $2.2 million, and his Australian service fee has risen to $275,000.

​THE DAM – She’s Bobby’s Girl – (Bobby’s Kitten (USA)

She’s Bobby’s Girl is an unraced daughter of Breeders’ Cup Gr.1 winner Bobby’s Kitten, but the real strength is in her outstanding female family. She is a half sister to Group 1 winner Under The Louvre, winner of 9 races and more than $1.8 million, highlighted by the Gr.1 Stradbroke Handicap.

​Her dam Barcelona Girl has been an excellent producer, with 7 runners for 7 winners, including Under The Louvre, Gr.3 placed La Pulga, six time winner Barthelona and four time winner Castlecomer. The family also features Gr.2 winner Master Harry.

​Importantly, She’s Bobby’s Girl is already showing commercial appeal as a broodmare. Her first foal, Lava Flow, the Too Darn Hot colt pictured in this pedigree, sold for $250,000 at the 2025 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale. He is now trained by Bjorn Baker and has already shown ability, winning two Rosehill trials before placing in two of his first three race starts.

​THE TRAINER – Tony Gollan

​Tony Gollan is the dominant force in Queensland racing, operating his powerful stable from Eagle Farm in Brisbane. He has won an extraordinary 12 consecutive Brisbane Metropolitan Trainers’ Premierships and was inducted into the Queensland Racing Hall of Fame in 2025.

​Gollan is an eight time Group 1 winning trainer, with his elite performers including Antino, Spirit Of Boom, Temple Of Boom, Vega One, Jonker and Krone. His first Group 1 came with Temple Of Boom in the 2012 Galaxy, while Antino added another major highlight when winning the 2024 Gr.1 Toorak Handicap.

His numbers underline just how powerful the operation has become. Gollan trained more than 200 Queensland winners during the 2025/26 season, while Racing Queensland currently lists him as the No.1 metropolitan trainer in the state.

​Importantly for a young horse, Gollan has also developed an outstanding record with 2YOs and 3YOs. He was Queensland’s leading QTIS trainer by earnings for both age groups in 2025/26, having also topped both categories the previous season.
