"the First One You've Sent Us Is A Cracker!"-aaron Bain
Horse Overview
Grand Syndicates are thrilled to welcome a promising new talent to our team, and introduce for the first time, two rising stars in the South Australian training ranks – Aaron Bain and Ned Taylor.
About the Filly
In our opinion, this chestnut filly by Written By is a standout. Selected by our bloodstock expert John Price at the Inglis Premier Sale earlier this year, she was a must-have for her pedigree, athleticism, and conformation. We’ve given her plenty of time, and she’s now ready to be offered for syndication.
Sire: Written By – Blue Diamond winner, Champion Australian 2yo Colt of his year, and now leading second-season sire at stud. With 53 individual winners to date including 4 stakes winners, the progeny of Written By apply themselves well. RIPCORD is a multiple Stakes winner and a top class sprinter, STRAIGHT CHARGE won the Group 2 Silver Slipper Stakes, THE NOVELIST won the Group 3 Magic Millions BJ MacLachlan Stakes, and most recently in mid-November, the very exciting WIND AND THE LION won the $500,000 Placid Ark Stakes (Listed).
Dam: Betsy By Good (by Makfi) – From a highly promising broodmare sire line, with Makfi mares producing a remarkable 36.8% winners-to-runners strike rate.
Meet the Trainers
Based at the state-of-the-art Angaston Park, one of South Australia’s most historic and successful properties, this filly offers an excellent opportunity for passionate owners to race in top-class conditions. Aaron Bain brings a wealth of experience, having achieved much success in harness racing before transitioning seamlessly to thoroughbreds. Ned Taylor, with a grounding as foreman for the powerhouse Maher/Eustace stable, has developed into a sharp and ambitious trainer. Together, they’ve quickly established themselves as a formidable combination, breaking into South Australia’s top 10 trainers in their debut season and boasting an impressive 18.8% strike rate for 2024/25.
Her Development So Far
Born in September, this filly is well ahead in her preparation. She has already completed breaking-in and a full training prep with Aaron and Ned, showing all the right signs of being a forward and talented sprinter. She’s bred for speed with a pedigree boasting standout Stakes winning performers like Ole Kirk, Capitalist, and Coolangatta.
Pairing her exceptional breeding with the expertise and cutting-edge facilities of Bain & Taylor gives this filly every opportunity to excel. Both our bloodstock team and trainers are thrilled with her progress, and we’re now ready to share her potential with you.
It’s Easy and Affordable
Standard 5% shares are $3,300, and include all costs to the end of March 2025. The syndicate fees are fixed at $260/month ($60/week), are billed quarterly in advance, and include all normal and expected racing, training, agistment, managment and communications, transport up to 300km per trip, farrier, and the one that we always get asked about-vet costs-all included. With the exception of annual insurance and the possibility of feature race payments (which is a bill you should hope to get because it means your horse is good enough to be in the big races), there should be nothing more to pay.
A small number of 2.5% shares are available for those who just want to dip their toes in the water, and if that’s you, then just halve the figures above.
The syndicate brochure is now available.
