2024 Karaka Millions Yearling Sale Purchase

Horse Overview

Our first purchase at Karaka 2024 is this lovely Bivouac x Phoenix Park filly, secured for $130,000 from Landsdowne Park.

She is from the first crop of Darley’s Champion Sprinter Bivouac, and I have been impressed with the quality of horse he is throwing across the Magic Millions and Karaka inspections this year. I had several of them on my shortlist in Queensland, and the good ones proved hard to buy.

I really liked this filly right from the first time I saw her. She had all of the qualities that the Bivouacs I liked at the Magic Millions had. She moves well, carries herself effortlessly, and has a developing pedigree page.

Her dam won four races and was a Metro winner in Melbourne. She has had two foals to race, both winners in Australia. Very Intoxicating is also a Metro winner. She’s won three races and finished second four times from her 12 starts.

Phoenix Park is a half-sister to the Group-performed mare She’s A Thief, a quality race mare on both sides of the Tasman. Champion 2YO and Cambridge Stud resident Sword Of State also features prominently on the page. He won six races in total, four of them as a juvenile. He is a very exciting young stallion at Stud in his own right.

We have had a bit of luck buying out of New Zealand in the past with a horse called Zakurak, who cost $45,000 and went on to win four races and over $100,000. We made our first trip back to Karaka for quite some time last year and secured two lovely horses that are progressing well through the stable.

Opportunities are available and, as always, are sold at cost. What we pay, you pay.
