As the famous trainer JB ‘Bart’ Cummings once famously said-“Patience-it’s the cheapest thing in racing and the least used”.

So, let’s have a look through just a few recent years and find some examples of November and December foals who became successful racehorses…

BIVOUAC, NATURE STRIP, JOHNNY GET ANGRY, PROBABEEL, KOLDING, PIERATA, MERCHANT NAVY, DUNDEEL, GRUNT and SO YOU THINK are all winners at the highest level (Group 1) who were November or December foals. I guess you can see where this is heading.

This filly that we purchased from the 2024 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale is by the outstanding stallion Capitalist, and yep, you guessed it-she’s a November foal! Capitalist has stamped himself as one of the best stallions in a very short time in the breeding barn. Already the sire of 41 stakes horses including 11 stakes performed 2yos, he is simply a winner producing machine. On the racetrack he was the first colt ever to win the Breeders’ Plate, Magic Millions and the stallion making pinnacle-the Group 1 Golden Slipper Stakes, a true speed machine by anyone’s definition, and he has clearly taken that talent to stud.

Looking at the pedigree page, her dam Pomposity is a full sister to the black type performed pair of Attention and Flamboyant Lass, both winners at two, and just two examples of a family deep with black type winners. The cross with a Stratum mare is very good-9 runners for 6 winners which includes the highly progressive Encap. Blessed with an exceptional temperament, it’s our opinion that she has the physicality to furnish into a horse of real quality.

As she’s eligible for the BOBS Bonus Scheme, it makes sense to retain her in NSW, and so we’ll be sending her to be trained by Brett Cavanaugh at Scone. Brett is the man that took our star filly It’s Me to success in the $1,000,000 Kosciuszko, and with a bit of luck, this filly could also bring her owners success on the track, and additionally reward them with some residual value as a broodmare prospect when she retires from racing.
