2023 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale Purchase.

We’ve put in the work at Inglis Classic and secured this Castelvecchio colt late on day one from one of the best families in the studbook, purchased from Bell River Thoroughbreds for $200,000.

He is from the first crop of Arrowfield’s Castelvecchio, who won the inaugural $2m Inglis Millennium and the G1 Champagne Stakes at two.He then trained on to win the Group 1 Rosehill Guineas at 3. However, his best performance may have been when he dashed lengths clear of his rivals in a WS Cox Plate, only to be beaten late by the world-class Lys Gracieux.

His first yearlings have been very well received this year. He had 12 sell at the Magic Millions for a healthy average of $200,000 with an aggregate of $2.36m.

This colt’s dam Believe is by Fastnet Rock. She was a two-time winner and placed in a G1 Australian Oaks. Fastnet Rock runs at an incredible 63% runners to winners as a broodmare sire.

Horses such as SANTA ANA LANE, GYTRASH, ZOUGOTCHA, TIVACI and Golden Slipper favourite LEARNING TO FLY are all out of Fastnet Rock mares.

The third dam on the page is Tugela. She produced perhaps the greatest ever MAKYBE DIVA. She is a proper ‘blue-hen’ mare with multiple Group horses filling the page. She is also the dam of VALKYRIE DIVA, MUSKET and LA AMISTAD. The family has kept producing with WALES and C’EST BEAU LA VIE.
