“Nice forward, precocious looking individual. Very athletic, very balanced”, says Adrian Bott.

This colt was personally purchased by Gai & Adrian from the Magic Millions Yearling Sale. They also wanted Blueblood to get involved in syndicating the horse with them.

DUBIOUS is a first season sire. Consequently he was well sort after at the recent sales with the highest progeny sold for $500,000. We believe our colt was a much nicer type of his progeny that were sold in the ring. The Waterhouse/Bott team absolutely love him.

In addition 20% has been secured in the past 24 hours. This is your chance to secure a share in this outstanding colt by DUBIOUS who is the son of Champion sire, NOT A SINGLE DOUBT (deceased).

The colt will be trained by Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott from their Randwick stables in NSW.

Our colt passed his x-rays and clinical vet examination as low risk and suitable for racing.

The colt was prepared by the one of the best farms in Kitchwin Hills who have bred Group 1 winners such as Vow And Declare, Pierata, Yes Yes Yes just to name a few. They breed tough horses. However, Dubious stands at the well-known stud farm in Qld namely, Aquis Farm.

Below are comments from Adrian Bott, which can be heard in the video clip, above right.

ADRIAN BOTT (Trainer) comments: I was delighted to be able to secure the Dubious colt. Nice forward, precocious looking individual. Very athletic, very balanced. Certainly, reminded me a lot of the sire and the sire line. Plenty of attributes and qualities that we like. Above all, really want to target a horse that we can get back to the Magic Millions here next year. He was a sire that we were willing to take a chance on.

The Sire: DUBIOUS

DUBIOUS is by NOT A SINGLE DOUBT. 3 wins as a 2YO at 1000m and 1200m. His oldest progeny are yearlings. The fastest ever winner of the Group 3 Breeders’ Plate (1000m), quicker than previous winners CAPITALIST, VANCOUVER, PIERRO, SEBRING, SNITZEL and CHOISIR.

DUBIOUS went on to finish 2nd in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic of his year, just like his 14- time Group 1 producing sire did and won the Group 2 Champagne Classic (1200m) at Doomben. Dubious comes from the extended family of Champions Sires STREET CRY and SHAMARDAL, who between them have sired just shy of 50 Group 1 winners, highlighted by Champions WINX and PINATUBO respectively.

The Dam: FLASH OF INNOCENCE

The Dam FLASH OF INNOCENCE is by Champion sire LONHRO. She was also a winner at 1100m and is the half-sister to Group 1 winner, AMBER SKY who was a 7 time-winner including a Group 1. She is closely related to multiple Group winner, TRULY WICKED who produced 7 winners including AMBER LIGHT. This breeding cross has produced Group 1 winners REDZEL, LANKAN RUPEE, ROYAL DESCENT, SHOUT THE BAR and THE MITIGATOR.

Trainers: GAI WATERHOUSE & ADRIAN BOTT

Gai has gone on to achieve as much as humanly possible with racehorses. While many would rest on their laurels after such success, Gai simply wants to win more and more. Owners can rest assured that the Lady Trainer wants to win races just as much if not more than they do! Confirmation of this dedication to excellence came after just fifteen years of training when Gai was inducted into the Australian Racing Hall of Fame (2007). As we stand, in just over 20 years of training, Gai has amassed over 135 Group One wins and currently sits third on the all-time list (Group One winners) behind T.J. Smith and Bart Cummings.

By far Gai’s greatest achievements have been recorded in the best races of the year in both Melbourne and Sydney. Gai has won Sydney’s two best races, the Golden Slipper and Doncaster Handicap six and seven times respectively. Gai is by far the most successful trainer ever in the Sydney Spring. ‘Make hay while the sun shines’ is a phrase one often can hear Gai quoting. This attitude is reflected by Gai’s results in the best races contested during the Sydney Spring Carnival. The Flight Stakes (7 wins), the Epsom Handicap (7 wins) and the Metropolitan Handicap (8 wins) have become races at the mercy of Gai each and every year.

Gai & Adrian give each and every horse that comes into their care every possible chance to succeed. Consequently only six horses in the history of Sydney racing have won the two-year-old Triple Crown. Gai has trained two of them (Dance Hero 2004 and Pierro 2012). Furthermore she has won more Group One races for two-year-olds than any other trainer.

Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott’s recent Group success CON TE PARTIRO (Coolmore Legacy Stakes Group 1, Coolmore Classic Group 1) SHOUT THE BAR (Empire Rose Stakes Group 1, Vinery Stud Group 1), FARNAM (Golden Slipper Group 1) GLOBAL GLAMOUR (Thousand Guineas Group 1, Flight Stakes Group 1). Combined, they hold the record for 7 Golden Slipper wins.
