John Price our bloodstock agent made this colt the pick of the sale at the Tasmanian Yearling Sales. We had $50,000 as a budget and rarely has the hammer fallen so kindly for us when the sold sign went up at $20,000. By Fierce Impact he is an October foal who will continue to grow out and strengthen over the next three months. This crop of yearlings on the ground are the first for the stallion and our colt was only the fourth to be offered for sale so far this sales season. With his first three yearlings averaging $120,000 we are supremely confident that we beaten the market with this purchase.

Fierce Impact was a three time Group 1 winner that just kept on improving with age. A European import he won over a mile as a two year old in the UK and settled seamlessly into life in Australia . It was in the Spring of 2019 that he announced himself to the racing public with back to back Group 1 victories during the Victorian Carnival. Wins in the Toorak and Cantala Stakes stamped him as a top class miler and he reinforced that mantle with a victory in the 2020 Makybe Diva stake

The dam, Uberwald, is a half sister to the black type performed Valedict and Zupacharged, the later was a super tough Victorian sprinter who was placed in both the Standish and Chester Manifold at Flemington. She has had three foals to the races, all winners including Londiani which is a three time winner from its last six starts. Fair to say this mating with Fierce Impact feels like a sharp upgrade for the mare. Our colt was uber relaxed at the sales, he walks with purpose and has the scope to develop into a cracking three year old. He is built to get over ground and our preferred pedigree matrix G1 Goldmines suggests he will excel over 1600m – 2000m , just like his sire. It’s a very smart mating as he is bred on a very similar cross to the stallion himself.

He heads to the progressive and exciting Gavin Bedggood stable. Gavin cut his teeth improving tried horses from leading stables and his work with Keats has been sensational. He is a very hands on trainer, limits his numbers and we were thrilled when he put his hand up to train this colt. Based at the state of the art Cranbourne training complex we are delighted to pair up with one of the states best up and coming trainers.
