Trainers love buying yearlings which remind them of a good horse in their stable and this colt grabbed Charlotte’s eye immediately. He was a dead ringer for our exciting multiple stakes performed 3yo MODOWN. The same body shape, the same skin, identical eyes and both with that same air of confidence. Charlotte wasn’t going home without this lad!

WHO IS LUCKY VEGA?

For those owners unfamiliar with this colt’s father, we will fill you in. LUCKY VEGA was a freakish talent in Europe. From only 8 career starts, he won two of the most prestigious Group 1 races in England and was twice Group 1 placed.

He was a fast 2yo (Group 1 winner over 1200m) or trained onto to win England revered mile contest – the Royal Ascot St James’s Palace Stakes (1600m).

Lucky Vega has been shuttling to Australia for the past three seasons where he stands at the mighty YULONG STUD alongside Written Tycoon, Pierata, Alabama Express. 

HIs first ever Australian runners will make their racetrack appearance later this year and our colt will be part of his first ever racing crop down under. 

A GOOD LOOKING SPECIEMEN

Our colt was the most expensive Lucky Vega sold at Melbourne Premier and we had to fight of Yulong and Robbie Griffiths to secure the good looking colt. 

He is a beautifully balanced lad, has a good shoulder and girth and has plenty of scope and leg about him which makes us think that he will develop into a sprinter/miler, just like his father.

For those pedigree buffs, Lucky Vega is a son of LOPE DE VEGA who also shuttled to our shores and produced the likes of Santa Anna Lane and Gytrash. This is a serious international sireline that nicks well with Australian mares.  We are very bullish about this young stallion and don’t be surprised if he becomes a hot commodity.
