This Colt was a must purchase at this years Inglis Classic Sale in Sydney. He’s by champion Japanese stallion Maurice who’s first crop in Australia produced dual Derby and Australian guineas winner Hitotsu and is also the sire of Sprinting Group 1 winner and the winner of over $7 million in prizemoney Mazu. The stable has had success with a number of horses by Japanese stallions with Real Sensation by Real Impact being one of those. Maurice stood last season for a service fee of $82,500 and the quality of his crops will only continue to improve. He’s yearlings averaged $220,000 at this year’s Magic Millions Sale.

His dam was Rock of Gibraltar mare Jessy Belle who I trained and who won over $780,000 in prizemoney and was a Group 2 winner and won 7 races in town including 3 times at Flemington. She was more than just a talented mare she was tougher than any other horse I’ve trained. She ran twice in Group 1 races for the stable finishing in the first 6 both times. She took us to the top level of racing in Australia and we are confident her son can reach those heights and beyond. Rock of Gibraltar as a broodmare sire has produced Japanese stallion Mikki Isle and local stallion Rubick amongst over 60 stakes winners. He is also the Dam Sire of 2 English 2000 Guineas winners.

The Colt reminded me of his mum from the moment he paraded. He was a very similar athlete to his mum, a good size but light on his feet. He has a brilliant action and is a beautiful mover. He has similar coloring and markings to his stallion and Hitotsu and he looks like he’ll be a middle distance race horse. The Caulfield Guineas would be the dream target. His temperament and attitude at the sales yard was first class and he’s been sent directly to Leneva Park which is Victoria’s leading education property to begin his career in the best possible way.
