We love this type of filly – not overly deep on pedigree but all racehorse, not too expensive and eligible for all of the Inglis and VOBIS bonuses down the track.

Microphone was Australia’s Champion 2yo of his year, winning four stakes races and running a narrow second in the Golden Slipper. He retired to stud at a fee of $38,500 however wasn’t able to get a full book of mares in foal, with only 56 live foals to fly his flag in his first year. Because of this it was always going to be difficult for him to advertise his wares by the time the yearling sales rolled around again, however he’s had a Brisbane metro winning 2yo in Pulpit strike a blow as well as the terribly unlucky Matisse, who should have almost won the two fillies’ leadups and then the Blue Diamond itself. Clearly he can produce a horse, and a filly, and this filly is a beauty.

The filly comes from a great family of winners with her dam Sotela producing five winners from six to race and her granddam Olympic Flame producing nine winners from 11 to race, including multiple stakes-winners Sports, Seika and Medals, all horses that raced on season after season. She’s a real bulldog who moves with purpose, has a bit of a stubborn streak about her and most importantly for a nice filly, a nice big pair of ears!
