2024 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale Purchase
Horse Overview
North Pacific’s first yearlings were presented for sale this year and judging by the quality of his first crop I’m very confident he’s going to make it as a stallion and top sire of speed horses. He was purchased for $800,000 as a yearling and is a son of top stallion Brazen Beau who himself is a son of super sire I Am Invincible. North Pacific went within a head of winning the Group 1 Golden Rose in Sydney with James McDonald in the saddle. I loved a number of his yearlings and I was thrilled when this filly stayed within my budget. We picked her up for $40,000 which we believe was the bargain of the sale. We believe we got her at such a great price partially because she had scratched her head on the float trip to the sales and had some stiches in her head during the parades. A little blemish like this which has no long term effect can be the difference between $100,000 and the price we got her for. She had perfect x-rays and scope and we rated her at around the $100,000 to $150,000 range.
This filly’s dam was lightly raced winning her maiden at Geelong at her 2nd start. She’s by champion stallion Fastnet Rock who’s the broodmare sire of sprinting stars Gytrash and Santa Ana Lane and her only foal to the races El Pradrino won the Inglis Nursery at his 2nd start and went on to run 4th in the $2 million Inglis Millennium. The mares next two foals are unraced and both sold for $210,000 and are with the Maher and Griffiths De Kock stables.
Our girl looks like she’ll get up and running early and we’ve nominated her for the Inglis race series to take advantage of the big prizemoney on offer for 2yo’s. She has a perfect attitude, great shoulder is very powerful behind the saddle. She’s gone straight to Leneva Park which is the leading yearling education property in Victoria to begin her journey in the best possible way.
