Yearling Just Completed The Breaking Process

Horse Overview

Successfully completed 19 days of the first stage of the breaking in programme. This
encompassed ground work education, including mouthing and becoming used to bit
pressure, as well as becoming accustomed to gear and tack while learning to travel
forward. The programme culminated in the filly being ridden for the first time in a western
saddle in the round yard with the support of a pony.

The work completed so far has set the filly up to proceed at a later stage with her under
saddle education in earnest where she will eventually move out to the larger arena, then
the sand track, and transition to being ridden in a jockey pad. In the next phase she will
also learn to work in company, to stand in cross ties and become familiarised with the
practice barriers.

Attitude: Quite mentally forward and coped easily with all that was asked of her. Has a tendency to
be a little dominant which is desirable in a racing filly.

Overall Opinion: The filly handled the first stage of the breaking in programme like a professional. She
coped with all that was asked of her during the ground phase of her education but actually
excelled when it came to being ridden under saddle. She demonstrates a lovely open
stride and smooth action.
