What a filly! This is probably the best horse we’ve purchased thus far! Which is saying something as we’ve bought some nice horses over the years at very good value. But as we look to expand both our operation and the quality of horse we train, we look to continually raise the bar and we believe we’ve exponentially raised it this time!

This filly really needs no introduction, but we’ll give you one anyway as we just can’t get enough of her. She’s by the Champion Racehorse and Sire in Pierro, who himself was crowned Champion Sire at his first, second and third seasons at stud. Sire of just shy of 400 individual winners including 34 individual Stakes Winners, 6 at Group One level! He was standing for $110,000 at Coolmore Stud the season Full Of Spirit visited him to produce our filly!

As a racehorse, Pierro was the highest rated juvenile since 1977 and highest rated 3yo in the world in 2013. He won the 2yo Triple Crown whilst also being unbeaten before winning another two Group 1’s as a 3yo before retiring to stud. The winner of 11 races from 14 starts, placing at the other 3 starts! The dam, Full Of Spirit was no slouch either, going down a within a head in the Hawkes Bay Makfi Challenge Stakes, one of the biggest Group 1 races in NZ! The winner of 4 races including the G3 Adrian Knox Stakes in Australia as well as placing in a further 4 Stakes races. Full Of Spirit almost has a 100% record with her progeny on the ground, having had 4 foals to the races for 3 winners.

From the family of Champion NZ filly Bonneval and stakes winners Lord Arthur, Imposing Lass, Lady Cumquat and The Frontman, this filly is bred in the purple and has the physical attributes to match. She really does have Oaks Filly written all over her!

She breezed like an absolute professional, run good time for the 200m (10.72s) without being asked to do a thing. We inspected her at least 5 times throughout the sale and she did not turn a hair, parading like she’d been there and done it all before. She is the most expensive horse our stable has bought and she was purchased purely on spec as we knew we had to have her! She was given the tick of approval by our Sports Scientist and our Bloodstock Agent and the farm clearly believes in her as well with Haunui Farm staying in to race her with us!
