Widden Stud Progeny

Horse Overview

We’ve secured this lovely Russian Camelot x Gitche Gumee filly from Widden Stud for $40,000. She was a beautiful, moving filly and will develop into a lovely type.

We know the quality that Russian Camelot possessed on the racetrack, and he will surely pass that on to his progeny. Bred in the Northern Hemisphere, he won on debut before running second at his only other start as a juvenile in the Listed VRC TCL TV Stakes. He did this by giving his competitors a six-month advantage.

He returned at three and was simply spectacular during the Spring. He won the Group 1 Underwood Stakes and finished second in the Group 1 Makybe Diva Stakes and the Group 1 Caulfield Stakes. He then ran third in the WS Cox Plate. He came back in the Autumn / Winter and won the Group 1 South Australian Derby.

Injury curtailed his career, and perhaps we never saw the best of him. His first yearlings are selling this year.

She is Vobis qualified and will race for the lucrative bonuses.

I felt she was a really progressive type of filly. The Russian Camelot’s I liked were all lightly framed and athletic horses with good movement, good bone structure and something that is going to come on as a late two and early three-year-old campaign. This filly fits this bill.

Opportunities are available and, as always, are sold at cost. What we pay, you pay.

The total price includes purchase price, GST, vetting, scope and race series nomination and 12 months insurance.
