“SMASHING COLT. GET ON BOARD”, SAYS PETER MOODY
CLOSELY RELATED TO GROUP 1 WINNER IN SECRET

What an outstanding thoroughbred racing colt, by the sire on fire, RUSSIAN REVOLUTION. Peter Moody was extremely happy to know that he would be training this colt which Blueblood purchased from the Inglis Easter Yearling sale, the best sale in the Southern Hemisphere.

He has a beautiful nature and a good action in his walk. Plenty of size and strength and should make some sort of an early 2YO. The colt will be trained by one of Australia and Victoria’s best trainer, Peter Moody who needs no introduction.

The colt passed 100% clean on his x-rays and clinical examination and was rated low risk.

Below are comments from the experts which can be watched in the video to the right and below.

David Mourad (BBT Racing Manager) comments: We purchased Lot 86 from the Inglis Easter Sale, best sale in the Southern hemisphere, the cream of the cream here at Warwick Farm. Another RUSSIAN REVOLUTION colt. I think he’s one of the hottest stallions in the country. He’s leading first season sire and currently leading second season sire. He just gets stakes winner after stakes winner. He’s got 6 for the season so far including Group 1 winner COMMUNIST and we have got an outstanding colt here. Plenty of size and strength about him. I love the way he moves and has a lovely nature. Family of IN SECRET, Newmarket winner. He’s got a lot going for him and we hope you come racing him with us.

Peter Moody (Trainer) comments: Smashing RUSSIAN REVOLUTION colt out of a young SEPOY mare, CRIMSON AND CLOVER. Beautiful colt off the great nursery Newhaven Park. Closely related to our boom sprinting 3YO filly, IN SECRET. Get on board, contact Blueblood. I look forward to racing this bloke with you

The Sire: RUSSIAN REVOLUTION
RUSSIAN REVOLUTION was born in Australia in 2013 and is by Champion of Champion sires, SNITZEL. Bay in colour, and commenced stud duties in 2018. In his career, he had 7 wins, 2 as a 2yo and he won at distances between 1000-1200m. His total prize earnings were $1.284 million. He won 2 Group 1’s. Not only was he precocious and versatile as a 2yo winning 2 races, but he also won 2 Group 1 races, one as a 3yo and one as a 4YO, so he trained on at the highest level. These included the ATC Galaxy and the MRC Oakleigh Plate which have produced a lot of successful sires in Australia.

Russian Revolution is the reigning champion first season sire. What a great job he is doing at stud. Last season, he was the leading first season sire and he has already kicked off this season in good fashion. He even had 2YO runners at the first 2YO race of the year, the Gimcrack and the Breeders Plate. He’s a sire of early runners that train on as 3YO’s.

His oldest progeny this year are 3YO’s. He was quite successful throughout the major yearling sales this year and averaged $155,000. He stands at Newgate Stud at a fee of $71,500. Of his progeny sold at stud this year, he had 4 yearlings that made over $350,000 and 1 yearling that made $850,000.

The Dam: CRIMSON AND CLOVER
The Dam, Crimson And Clover by SEPOY was a winner at 1600m and is the half-sister to ELOPING (dam of IN SECRET), OF THE BRAVE and Jesse’s Girl. This is her second foal. Dam of 1 foal to race.

This colt has a stallion match rating of 20/20 and is bred on the similar pattern as Group 1 winners SEABROOK (Syndicated by Blueblood), ALIZEE, INCENTIVISE, STREETS OF AVALON, KING’S LEGACY, TAKE DOWN and SWORD OF STATE.

The Trainer: PETER MOODY
Peter Moody is considered a great trainer by most in the industry arguably training the best horse the world has ever witnessed in Black Caviar. Peter Moody stats speak for themselves with 2577 career wins with 56 at Group 1 level amassing over $115 million in prizemoney.

Peter’s strike rate is not short of amazing with a win strike rate of 18% and an incredible Group 1 strike rate of 10%. He will set up his return to training with boxes at Pakenham.

Peter Moody has commented, “I am [excited]. I’m a bit tentative about it, I’ve got to learn to get back out there and get on the tools again but not too much has changed,” he said. “I’ve got no doubt I’ll be a better trainer this time around because I’m going to be more relaxed and be able to manage my time much better, and I’ll have a smaller team.”
