This yearling’s sire is the winner of the Group 1 Australian Guineas and Group 1 Cox Plate, SHAMUS AWARD. As well as a dual Group 1 winning 3yo, he was also up and going as a spring 2yo where he ran third in both the Inglis Banner and Group 3 Maribrynong Plate. By SNITZEL, he has been one of the few by his sire who was flexible enough to be both an effective sprinter and win at the highest level at 2040m.

SHAMUS AWARD has produced a superior stakeswinner to runner ratio than SO YOU THINK, DUNDEEL, TORONADO and WRITTEN TYCOON, all highly priced and regarded stallions. He has produced Group 1 Oaks winners such as DUAIS, EL PATRONESS and MEDIA AWARD, Derby winner MR QUICKIE, Group 1 Levin Classic winner QUINTESSA and likely his greatest son, the injury plagued Group 1 Caulfield Cup winner INCENTIVISE.

His dam, MIRJULISA LASS was impressive from early on in her career, scoring a big 3.8 length win in her third start as a 2yo and was just over 2 lengths off the winner in a Listed 2yo race. She went to another level as a 3yo, winning four from six in a patch that culminated in her peak performance in winning the Group 1 Vinery Stud Stakes, beating Group 1 winners BRAZILIAN PULSE and PINKER PINKER. Considered the best 2000m 3yo Fillies race in Australia, the honour role includes PROWESS, FANGIRL, VERRY ELLEEGANT and MISS FINLAND to name just a few.

By a Group 1 winner of the best WFA 2000m race in Australia and out of a mare who won the best 3yo Fillies 2000m race in Australia. This combination on its own is powerful but when added to by his breeder being responsible for breeding champion BLACK CAVIAR and other major Group 1 winners JAMEKA, ALL TOO HARD, THE QUARTERBACK and ABSOLUTELY, there is something special about this horse.

He will head to Mitch Freedman to be trained at Ballarat. The facilities on offer at Ballarat are world class and the main reason behind the training track providing so many winners. Mitch is having a break out year, winning his first Group 1 with ATTRITION in the Toorak Hcp, he has achieved placings in the Group 1 VRC Derby and Oaks, with SOUTHERN MOON and MOONLIGHT MAID and has achieved stakes and metropolitan wins with horses such as SKYBIRD, HO HO KHAN, CEERSEVEN and BELLE ET RICHE. A terrific young talent well suited to a horse like this.
