2024 Magic Millions Yearling Sale Purchase

After spending the last week scouring the sales complex, Simon has landed a quality colt by one of the world’s leading stallions in WOOTTON BASSETT.

Wootton Bassett was an unbeaten two year old in Europe and has become one of the flagship stallions at Coolmore, the world’s biggest and most respected stud operation. He has already sired 21 Group 1 winners including ALMANZOR who has really sired a Victoria Derby winner here in Australia. He’s also a proven stallion in Australia with PROTAGONIST and ALTIVO both very promising horses in the making.

SANTUZZA was a very precocious filly, winning two races a two year old before running third in the Group 2 Matamata Breeders Stakes. She was an outstanding type by Savabeel who cost $300,000 as a yearling and then was sold as a valuable broodmare for $575,000. She has been an excellent producer with foals selling for up to $400,000. The most notable to race so far was Tu Qui Santuzza, a Pierro filly for Gai Waterhouse who was an explosive winner on debut at Canterbury before running well in a stakes race behind the smart Steel City but then succumbed to injury.

The colt himself was an excellent physical type and profiles as a strong miler/middle distance horse who should race at two and continue to improve into his three year old career and beyond. Simon has purchased him with the Caulfield Guineas and derby races in mind.
