How it Works
The number of races run that form part of the Thoroughbred Sales Race Series in each state will be determined by us prior to 31st July in each year. This will be based on the number of Eligible Thoroughbred Sales Horses with a trainer or Syndicator based in that state.
State | % Database | Est no. Races Year 1 | Est no. Races Year 2 | Est no. Races Year 3 |
---|---|---|---|---|
New South Wales | 30.77% | 23 | 38 | 61 |
Victoria | 48.66% | 36 | 60 | 96 |
Queensland | 9.00% | 7 | 12 | 19 |
Western Australia | 9.00% | 7 | 12 | 19 |
South Australia | 2.37% | 2 | 3 | 5 |
*Eligible horses will be allowed to compete in all states. Above stats are based on 2023 results, exact numbers to be confirmed July 31st of each year.
Eligibility Requirements
A minimum of 75% of the initial value of the ownership stake sold in that horse by the purchasing trainer or syndicator was transacted via the TS digital platform payment system; and
If there has been a subsequent sale of any portion of the ownership of that horse, a minimum of 50.1% of the ownership stake in that horse must have been transacted through the TS digital platform payment system; and
The trainer or syndicator of the horse remains an account holder/subscriber
The Thoroughbred Sales account holder relating to the horse is then active (and all fees payable to TS relating to the horse, including the 1% TS Race Series fee and subscription fees, have been paid as and when payable).
In the case a minimum 75% can’t be processed via the TS Digital Platform, Thoroughbred Sales, at its own discretion, can do a manual transaction to meet the minimum 75%
Prize Money
Prizemoney for each Eligible Thoroughbred Sales Horse winning a Thoroughbred Sales Race Series race during the 3-year period will be no less than AU$10,000.
The races with the race series bonus attached will be aimed at mid week, provincial and country meetings. These will be selected in accordance with each states racing governing body where applicable.
Prize Money Payment
Thoroughbred Sales has entering into partnerships with one or more state and/or territory thoroughbred racing bodies. Thoroughbred Sales, as part of this agreement, will be utalising some states standard prize money payment systems to pay the winning connections. Where this process is not being used, Thoroughbred Sales will pay the prize money to the account holder, trainer or syndicator, to then payout to their winning connections. Unless there is a dispute on eligibility, payment will occur as soon as reasonably practicable.
Prize money payments are also subject to each racing jurisdiction’s rules for prize money payments, including return payments for deemed non-runners past the race date. This includes horses that have returned a positive swab.
