An expatriate New Zealander based at Warwick Farm in Sydney, Mandy was an equestrian rider in her homeland before working for New Zealand Racing Hall of Fame trainer Laurie Laxon.
“I spent five years with Laurie before he moved to Singapore where he went on to win nine trainer premierships there. I was foreman after six months, working with many Group horses in a stable with around 120 horses in work,” Mandy said.
It was another Kiwi trainer, the now Brisbane-based Brian Smith, trainer of 28 stakes winners, that led to Mandy settling in Sydney where she has a stable close to the Warwick Farm racecourse with 20 to 25 horses in work.
“When I was working for Brian at Warwick Farm, I started riding horses like Circles Of Gold, the ATC Oaks winner, who was a very good mare. I loved it, so I never went home.”
Mandy obtained her training licence in Sydney in 2000. She is now one of the most respected and experienced horsewomen in the state. The wellbeing of horses under her care is paramount both in terms of stable operations and racing programs.
“Happy, sound horses produce the best results.”
“The stable team is a tight knit group able to provide very personalised service to our owners.”
Amanda Turner Racing is expanding with 4 x horses in the stable now available for ownership including the 2 x Inglis Ready2Race 2YOs, with the pedigree, confirmation and racing action to take on the upcoming 2YO black type races.
