Having grown up around horses from a young age, it is no surprise that Desleigh Forster had early ambitions to be a successful thoroughbred trainer. Watching her father train endurance horses, she was always helping out and was a hands-on assistant.
A stint with the legendary Bart Cummings Stable in Brisbane was to follow before she found herself working for one of Melbourne’s leading trainers Peter Moody whilst he was in Brisbane. This was to last 4 years and through this time Desleigh went to Melbourne to help set up Peter’s Melbourne Stable, which has since become one of Victoria’s leading stables.
Desleigh now trains from a calm and relaxed atmosphere at on-course stables at Eagle Farm and it is this environment that helps to ensure the happiness of the horses which is paramount in achieving success. Desleigh is a very hands-on trainer who believes communication with owners and an easy approachable friendly personality are all part of the fun and enjoyment of racing with Desleigh Forster Racing Stables.
