George Osborne has been training 28 years across many parts of Australia including Kembla Grange in NSW, Rockhampton and Gold Coast in Queensland and now located in Kyneton, Victoria.
Feature wins include the Weetwood Hcp,Gold Coast Stakes,Bribie Handicap all cups and feature sprint winners in Rockhampton, Mackay and Townsville.
George also won the Country Cup on Oaks Day at Flemington with Awesome Warrior and the Bendigo Guineas with Written Up.
Other feats include a trifecta in the Rockhampton Cup and being the leading trainer in Rockhampton and well trainer of the horse of the year on the Gold Coast with a horse named Devil.
The stables most recent high profile horse was the ill-fated sprinter Miss Vista. Miss Vista made headlines in the Autumn of 2016 at a midweek meeting at Ballarat recording a 5 1/2 length victory with a stunning white face. She became well known around the stables as “Baldy”.
Miss Vista had a competitiveness George Osborne hadn’t seen in one of his gallopers before.
“I can’t even canter her with another horse, she wanted to beat it,” Osborne said.
“I was nervous as I’ve ever been before a horse race … fantastic.”
She clocked 57.31 seconds for the five furlongs, 87-hundredths of a second off the course record.
Perhaps Miss Vista’s rivals were scared off by her appearance, with Osborne claiming her white face turns pink after a run.
“I see her walking down my lane in the dark and I look the other way,” he said.
Miss Vista sadly passed away in February 2018 with lamanitis in her feet. She was a special horse and buried where she was bred at Glenfern Park in Romsey, Victoria.
Currently in the top 30 trainers in Victoria for winners.
