Why our listings have “Price Upon Requested”

We constantly get asked “why do so many horses have no pricing displayed”? Short answer: Racing Australia and ASIC rules and regulations.

Thoroughbred Sales from Day 1 has always and will alway abide by Rule and Regulations set out by Racing Australia and the Australia Sercurity Investment Commission. When selling shares or part of a horse you are required to have an AFSL licence, this is held by most syndicators and is regulated by a governing body to ensure all rules are met when offering an Investment opportunity not just in horses.

Most trainers don’t hold this license which doesn’t mean they cant offer share in horses however there are certain things they cant do when publicly offering them like advertise pricing. To meet the rules within the industry we display “price upon request” which gives the trainers the opportunity to reach a wider audience to find new owners for their stable.

I would say be cautious with any other site you see that displays prices for every horse as they may not be 100% reliable or meet Australian Racing standards.

If you are an owner and have any questions regarding this please don’t hesitate to contact us at admin@thoroughbredsales.com.au
